Super easy marinara sauce coming your way! For those of you that don’t know, I’m Italian. And every Italian girl loves her sauce.
My in-laws have a giant garden and can their own tomato sauce every year which is incredible! However sometimes I don’t have time to cook it, or we run out of their jars (such a sad day).
The jars in the stores are getting better and better, however many still have hidden sugars in them and honestly can be very expensive. This sauce is super easy and if you’re like me and always have jars of canned tomatoes on hand- I bet you can make this with what you’ve already got in your pantry!
It is perfect on pasta, pizza, or as a dipper for some mozzarella sticks or my favorite Whole30 Turkey Meatballs.
Let’s jump right in.
20 Minute Marinara Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 TBSP olive oil
- 1 small shallot minced
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1 TBSP dried oregano
- 1 tsp red pepper flakes optional
- 1 28oz can crushed san marzano tomatoes
- 1 6oz can tomato paste
Instructions
-
In a large sauce pan add in the olive oil, shallot, garlic, oregano and pepper flakes. Saute for about 1 minute until the shallots get soft and you smell the garlic.
-
Add in the crushed tomatoes and tomato paste and whisk until combine. Simmer on the stove top for 15-20 minutes. The sauce will be thick and delicious!
-
Use right away or store in glass mason jar for up to 2 weeks in the fridge.
Enjoy!
